Grass. That's all it is really, and yet it can be sculpted and formed and made into something beautiful!
“Bamboo Flight”
2019
-Test piece in my front yard-
My first installation. I was inspired to create this sculpture evoking a bird in flight in my front yard with untreated bamboo poles and zip ties. The front nose of the sculpture is about 6 feet high, and the tip of the tail is around 25 feet in the air. It was an impulsive temporary test piece, quickly made from old untreated bamboo and it stood for a full season+..
“Bamboo Dragonfly”
July of 2023
-For Lilyfest-
In permanent residence at Bishop Gardens in Rockbridge, Ohio
With a wingspan of 16 feet, this dragonfly is crafted completely out of natural bamboo that has been heat treated with open flame, held together with zip ties. It lives at the top of a bamboo grove, right next to a small bubbling pond, complete with croaking and jumping frogs.

“Bamboo Sunshine”
Front panel for our home grove
August 2023
A test piece with arches that acts as a fence panel in front of our grove, about 12 feet tall and 20 feet long, made from untreated bamboo. I have a small open trench just behind it to aid in keeping the grove from popping up under the power lines, so this bamboo installation keeps passerby from falling into a hole!
“Bamboo Tree”
Street front greeter at our home base
December 2023
A prototype for a garden tree concept. This particular piece is over 35 feet tall, adorned with dozens of split bamboo pieces attached to cotton string that flutter during a bit of breeze.
